The
Midwest Ceramic Association was established in 1957 and incorporated
on July 27, 1965 in the State of Ohio.
We are a non-profit organization. Each year the association sponsors a
trade show for ceramic manufacturers, distributors, dealers and studio
owners. They invite their customers and friends from all over the
world to gather in a designated city to learn new products, techniques
and business ethics. The association schedules nationally and
internationally know instructors to teach the latest techniques. These
classes are held prior to the opening of our show so that all persons
attending will be free to attend the trade show. The association
highly encourages educational activity throughout the trade show.
Attendance has been as high as 15,000 for our three-day trade show. The association
trade show is known nationally as "the quality show of the nation" and
is the largest non-profit ceramic trade show in the United States.
Attendees come from as far away as Scotland, Germany, England, Japan,
France and South America.
The association encourages activity and participation from golden age
centers and schools that have active ceramic programs. We donate a
portion of our trade show proceeds each year to these organizations.
They participate in our trade show as volunteers who assist us with
tickets, informational flyers, and competition security. The
association also donates to various special charitable organizations
such as: Hospice, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House,
Special Olympics and Guide Dogs of America, just to name a few of the
over 200 organizations. To promote education the association offers up
to two scholarships each year through our open competition. The
association has awarded more than 60 scholarships to date. Various
trophies and awards are available at our open competition. Both
nationally sponsored awards and our own trophies and ribbons are
awarded by judges employed by the association.
The first association-sponsored trade show was in 1959 with only 12
booths. 2008 brought us to our 50th annual trade show.
The association is dedicated to the promotion of ceramics as a business, a
hobby, an industry and as therapy; to maintain and continually improve
and promote the ceramic industry. |
